Following the Moon’s travel around the Zodiac, full moons symbolize a peak of energy with the cosmic tensions mostly felt on the personal level. Full moons are focused on the emotional and instinctual, allowing us to gain insight into the dynamics of our intimate relationships and inner conflicts revealing what has been hidden in our subconscious.
This Full Moon in Leo takes place on January 28th at 2:16 pm Eastern Time. The Sun at 9º05’ conjunct Jupiter 9º17’ of Aquarius opposed the Moon at 9º05’ conjunct Hygeia at 9º04’. A cosmic prayer of well defined intentions in the area of healing our creative self expression through the power of the Medicine Woman, the asteroid Hygeia whose healing abilities are transmuted and augmented through the conjunction with the Moon and the trine to the Wounded Healer Chiron. Another major influence during this full moon is the T-square between the Moon, the Sun and Mars conjunct Uranus in Taurus.
With this full moon the energies are focused on the Leo / Aquarius axis. In your chart Leo, and the 5th house indicate the area where your need for freedom and self expression is essential, while Aquarius, and your 11th house show the area through which you can offer your creative energies to manifest something of substantial value to the world. Both signs represent the fixed quality characterized by determination, perseverance and also stubbornness.
Leo is a fixed fire sign, which makes it willful, playful, passionate and creative. The ruler of Leo, the Sun is the life giver within our solar system, it also symbolizes the function of ego, an unifying force. In a way we are all centers of our own universe and this Full Moon brings us to our unique expression which is a vehicle for inner healing and peace.
With the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo, you are called to apply Uranian ingenuity through practical and traditional Leonian outlets. The full moon encourages you to focus on the inner workings of your creative self. Are there blockages that stop you from an authentic expression? Where does the healing need to take place? What within your psyche needs to find a resolution in order for you to fully realize your creative potential? What could help you to increase your creativity? If you need to learn some technical skills look up towards the Sun transiting through Aquarius, the sign of technology, computers and inventions. If you are looking for an inspiring, no nonsense collaboration, Venus is transiting through the sign of Capricorn through the degrees on which Saturn stopped for the most part of 2020, so right now you have a chance to smooth over any social roughness and creative limitations that may have surfaced during the Saturnian passage.
Leo is one of the 3 classical archetypes of The Leader, the other two are Aries and Capricorn. Leo is the one who leads by shining their inner light onto others, Leo’s charisma helps those around to discover their own talents. Look at the planets you have in the Leo part of your chart: the sign, and the 5th house, and reflect on how you can express this archetype in a pure, elevating way. Raising your vibration and facilitating the expansion of love and kindness is your spiritual gift and vocation.
Chiron in Aries aspects the Full Moon with a trine to the Moon conjunct Hygeia, and sextile to the Sun conjunct Jupiter. These planetary alignments bring opportunity for healing both body and mind. Chiron, the Wounded Healer, currently transiting through Aries (2018-2027), teaches us about leadership, healing the wounds around self worth, assertiveness, and the need to lead and assume one’s role as the community organizer which is especially valid with the humanitarian focus of the Aquarian Sun.
Moon conjunct Hygeia can accelerate the process of transformation and in addition can assist you in focusing on self-care and self-healing. Hygeia, which I call The Medicine Woman, was discovered in 1849, and is located in the main asteroid belt. She is the fourth-largest asteroid in the Solar System after Ceres, Vesta, and Juno, and since she is nearly spherical she is also considered to be a dwarf planet like Pluto and Ceres. Her surface reveals two dark craters which have been informally named Serpent and Chalice from Latin Serpens and Calix. The archetypal meaning she conveys is the one of Medicine Woman, connected to the infinite cosmic healing energy. In one hand she holds her Cup of limitless potentialities, in the other, a snake acting as a lighting rod that conducts the power and serves her to perform quantum healing.
More about the asteroid Hygeia:
Strong position of Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, can also assist in the healing process. During this Full Moon Uranus conjuncts Mars in Taurus as an apex to the T-square to the Leo / Aquarius axis adding to the fixed energies and bringing quite intense and possibly disruptive feelings. It really depends how well you handle Uranian energy. For some it may be an intensified call for creative freedom opening the portal of quantum breakthroughs. In general, to balance the Uranian energy look up towards Mars, and launch yourself into physical activities, best outdoors (to ground). Staying active and grounded will make you feel invigorated and high. Instead of meditating in a seated position, opt for a movement meditation or even better dance to our CREATRIX Magazine’s Full Moon playlist complied by Sarah Penello of Church of the Cosmic Cunt:
Soon after the full moon, on January 30 Mercury starts (Saturday 10:52am) its retrograde motion in the sign of Aquarius at 26 degrees, and will continue the backward motion until February 20th at 11 degrees of Aquarius. Retrograde phases are a good time to slow down, and to take a little extra time and care with communication. Yet it’s also possible to approach them as a journey of discovery and reclamation. With Mercury in Aquarius, the goal is to avoid miscommunications that could damage our relationships, and on a deeper level review our ideals so they could better reflect who we are and what we want from life.
