With this Super Moon at 5 degrees and 19 minutes of Libra we are entering the sphere of social engagement and relatedness. It is here that we can gain insight into the roles we play within our communities. It is an excellent opportunity to find new layers of energy within to inspire us towards becoming more authentic through the act of interacting with one other.
What is the Super Moon? The SUPER MOON occurs when the Moon is close to the orbit of the Earth, as she exerts her greatest influence upon the oceans’ tides; it is where she also has her greatest effect on our individual and collective psyches and our bodies. Because our bodies are predominately made of water, that influence has a profound effect upon us as well. La Luna also enhances our intuition, and our connection with the higher self so listen up!
A few days before this Super Moon, the Sun crossed the Arch of the Autumnal Equinox, which you can read more about here:
The Fall Equinox opens up a powerful spiritual portal with the subtle energies of the cosmos flowing in offering downloads. On the earthly plane the days and nights were of equal length, also signifying balance, which is a theme central to Libra. The Equinox chart is important as it sets the tone for the next 3 months until the Winter Solstice that takes place this year on December 21st.
With the Sun in Libra we are shifting gears. After the last few weeks of mutable Virgo reign, with her impeccable work ethic and perfectionist tendencies, we are stepping into the cardinality. What does that signify? Libra is a cardinal air sign, and as she activates, her momentum concentrates her energies onto the abstract and intellectual. We have been transformed through the month of September, and now it is time to talk about all that we have achieved, and also to share our ideas and ideals with others.
The momentum is also here with Moon, Sun, Venus and Mercury in Libra, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, and Chiron in Aries. The ambitious energetic and driven energies of mutability help us to initiate a new cycle in which we can learn about ourselves through others and the communities we form, transform, restore, transmute.
Chiron at 3 degrees and 34 minutes of Aries creates an opposition to the Super Moon bringing forward all the themes related to the wounded healer archetype within the collective and individual psyches. Whenever Chiron becomes activated he offers potential for radical transformation and healing archetypal energy related to the sign it is placed in and in the area of life represented by the house it occupies in an individual chart.
Chiron in Aries creates the condition to clear the blocks that kept you from the truth of who you are. The ruler of Aries Mars is the warrior archetype related to the sense of worth: the hero’s journey and our individual mission. So the questions around power will arise: did you misuse the power bestowed upon you? Did you give your power away or disperse it without much focus? Aries at its best represents the capacity for leadership – also leading by example, and leading others for the common good. The shadow side of the warrior is egotistical, destructive and violent masculinity, lacking in the sensitivity to the needs of others. It also embodies the patriarchy, with its elevation of war, domination and disregard for the Earth and women.
The impeachment process that began this week carries on the potential of transforming the American society and healing the divisiveness represented by the man in the high office whose integrity and ability to lead one of the most powerful countries in the world has been questioned since the very first day of his presidential campaign. We need healing on the collective/ civil level, and to replace the aggressive, institutionally enabled controlling structures of power with a deep transformation of values underlying our civilization, especially restoring respect for the environment that sustains us, empathy, and respect for all beings regardless of nationality, skin colour or gender.
The process of healing our collective and individual sense of self and self-worth has started with the transition of Chiron into Aries in April 2019 and will continue through the next 8 years until May 2027, transforming the archetype of the leader in us all, healing the lingering collective wounds we inherited from the Era of Aries, which is something I discussed in the article about Era of Pisces:
Game theory applied to astrology is an act of balancing the planetary energies, maximizing the positive and minimizing the negative expressions of each sign and Planet. The ego driven Aries is balanced by sign of equality and relationships Libra. The polarity between the two enhanced through the Chiron opposition to the New Moon offers us a solution. We must hold in balance the individual sense of self and assertiveness with sensitivity to the needs of others. Just like Mars shows us how to stand up for ourselves, the ruler of Libra Venus teaches us about LOVE: self-love, self-worth and love for others.
