Every month, our editor Sarah makes a playlist featuring artists that share the same Sun sign. Listen to her Cancer Season playlist here.
Normally, after doing my deep dive and researching all of the popular visual and recording artists that share the same Sun sign, I have a lot of analysis to offer. This time, I feel that all of these Cancer artists speak for themselves.
Cancer is the Cardinal Water sign. Those born with their Sun in Cancer are sweet, sensitive, sensual souls. This playlist is so achingly vulnerable, so present. I noticed a common theme of album covers where the artist gazes directly at the viewer, unafraid of naked intimacy.
Cancer is the season of steamy surrender, the first licks of high Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. The season of hopping fences and stealing kisses and staying out too late. Of salty sweaty nights, of days that blur together in the sun.
The visual artists of Cancer bare their souls through their work, showing the world as they see it. Mundane reality, overlaid with the dreamy, sometimes hazy, always fantastical, inner visions of the artist. Cancer artists can surf the liminal spaces, sharing their intimate private world with the collective through their work.
I’m including more imagery than usual this month, because Cancer is very visceral, it lives in the senses and feelings. Just as summer is when all the fruits ripen, the art of Cancer is a sweet, juicy feast for the eyes.
