Sidereal: Moon at 11°03′ Cancer (Pushya Nakshatra), Sun at 11°03′  Capricorn (Sharavana Nakshatra)
Tropical: Moon at 5°14′ Leo, Sun at 5°14′ Aquarius

This Lunar Cycle began on January 11th, and culminates on January 25th with the Moon at 11°03′ Sidereal Cancer (Nakshatra Pushya), opposing the Sun at at 11°03′ Capricorn (Sharavana Nakshatra), and at 5°14′ Leo, Tropical opposing the Sun at at 5°14′ Aquarius, Tropical.

Vedic, Sidereal: Moon in Cancer, in Pushya Nakshatra, Sun in Capricorn, in Shravana Nakshatra.

If you look up the sky using any of the sky apps available on your phone with more power of analyzing the astronomical data than the tools the Sumerian Priestesses and Babylonian and Egyptian Priests, you shall see that during this Full Moon, the Moon is in the constellation of Cancer, and the Sun in Capricorn.

In the Vedic tradition, during this Full Moon, the Moon resides in the Moon Mansion called Pushya and represented as The Star of Nourishment. Pushya ruled by Saturn resides entirely in the constellation of Cancer, ruled by the Moon, therefore we look at the energies of Saturn & Moon combined like in a conjunction. This is not an easy alignment, but in this Moon Mansion we look at the idea of selfless sacrifice to truly care for others and to build emotional stability. Pushya Nakshatra teaches us that it takes true wisdom and sacrifice to care for others and to be of benefit to others. We learn to be wise and patient.

The Sun is located in the Nakshatra Shravana, situated entirely in the sign of Capricorn ruled by Saturn. Here, we are experiencing intuitive absorption of ancestral teachings, therefore, this Moon Mansion is also known as The Star of Learning. Shravana gives us the power of connecting to others, sharing our experiences, insights and also absorbing other people’s lessons. It comes with a warning though so as to be aware of false gurus.

Western, Tropical Zodiac: Moon in Leo, Sun in Aquarius conjunct Pluto

With the ingress of Pluto into Tropical Aquarius on Jan 21st, this Full Moon brings  a peak of energies and intense oppositional forces. The Sun conjunct Pluto opposes the Moon in Tropical Leo and the Leo/Aquarius axis forms a square to Jupiter in Taurus bringing deep undercurrents of energy to transform and re-shape. Antagonistic energies bring up inner conflicts to the surface revealing what has been hidden in our subconscious. The cosmic tensions are mostly felt on the personal level as full moons are focused on the emotional and instinctual, allowing us to gain insight into the dynamics of our intimate relationships, and through the power of intuitive insight, adjust them accordingly.

The fiery quality of this Full Moon is highlighted by Chiron approaching the conjunction with the North Node in Aries. Chiron, the wounded healer, helps us heal imbalances that we still carry from the age of Aries, the destructiveness of violence, wars, devaluation of the children and women, and separation and exploitation of earth. By sign and house placement Chiron shows you core wounds that block you from stepping into the fullness of who you are. Aries at its best has the leadership capacity, stepping into one’s unique way with inner confidence and strength. The shadow side of Aries overemphasizes the ego, devoid of sensitivity towards the needs of others.

Keep in mind the big date for the Jupiter / Uranus conjunction exact on April 20th which we are going to feel from March 20 to May 20, within its 5° orb.

Wishing you a peaceful Full Moon!
