Aries New Moon: Sunday, April 11th 2021

This new lunar cycle begins on April 11th, exactly at 10:30 pm EST, with the Sun and the Moon at 22 degrees and 24 minutes of Aries. This is the first New Moon after the Spring Equinox which began a new cycle of the Zodiac affecting us for the next year. The Spring Equinox chart defines the major themes and the energies of the whole upcoming year. You can read about it here:

With Aries, a cardinal, fire sign ruled by Mars, we are experiencing a boost of energy helping us to take reality in stride. Through its pioneering, courageous, intense survival spirit, we are launched to fearlessly conquer the world. The element of fire represents divine inspiration and creativity. With the seven planets forming Aries stellium: Chiron, Mercury, Ceres, the Moon, the Sun, Eris, and Venus, the emphasis is on the experiential and instantaneous quality of Aries, encouraging us to be here now. Most importantly, Aries is action oriented – taking care of our affairs is the name of the game.

The powerful Aries stellium has a quality of the rolling conjunction where the planets conjunct one another in order, transmitting energy from one another, with those at either end feeling connected via those in between, for better or worse. Such a vast conjunction has a quality of a blind union, the planets are joined in their goals, but they can also be stressing on each other. Let’s look closer at each set of conjunctions.

With the Chiron / Mercury conjunction in Aries we are revisiting the themes of self awareness and assertiveness. Chiron, The Wounded Healer, placed in the cardinal, fire sign of Aries teaches us about leadership, healing the wounds around self worth, and the need to lead even if you know deep inside you are not always the greatest hero you would like to be. You learn that your best is good enough.

Ceres, the archetype of the Mother, joins the Moon, traditionally associated with the motherly love. What does it mean and how they are different? Well, Ceres is the Mother that provides us with all the necessities for the basic survival: food, clothing, shelter, money; while the Moon represents the archetype of the Mother that nurtures us emotionally. Both of them forming a conjunction in Aries, suggest a need for emotional fulfillment through being of service to others.

The New Moon conjunction Eris, can be a little tense, especially that Eris also squares Pluto in Capricorn. The Goddess of Discord, Eris was discovered only recently in 2003, she is called Pluto’s sister but she is actually larger than Pluto. Her orbit is slow (in Aries from 1925 until 2048) and right now for the rest of the year she is at 24 degrees of Aries. The archetypal meaning she conveys is the ignored furious feminine energy that represents the oppressed and those without the agency. She is an angry deity that suddenly emerged on the stage and demands to be reckoned with. During this New Moon, the intensity of Eris in square to Pluto, can be transmuted through the conjunction with the Mother archetypes: Ceres and the Moon, and also the Sun, as our conscious ego expression, guiding us towards a possible resolution, so feel into her and recognize the parts of you that have been stifled. Unexpressed desires and bottled up feelings erupt with much greater force whether on personal or collective level.

The stellium’s final planet Venus, forms a one degree square to Pluto in Capricorn. Through the astrofeminist lens, Venus is Aries is best represented by the Hawaiian deity Pele, Goddess of volcanoes, fire, and lightning associated with a sacred, primordial force. Venus in Aries is into no strings attached, passionates romance, and in general is seen as hyper-sexual. Moreover, Venus square Pluto tends to create intense sexual and emotional involvements, often too strong to be controlled so watch out or harness the volcanic fire towards other goals. This configuration can also bring great financial opportunities (Venus/ Taurus vs Pluto/Scorpio) if it aligns with other energies in your chart.

This is going to be a super charged New Moon, with another potent astrological configuration of a Minor Trine, with Mars in Gemini sextile New Moon, Jupiter in Aquarius sextile New Moon, and both creating a trine to each other, acting as the base of the triangle. Energizing and activating, this planetary alignment is likely to enrich our present endeavors with the depths of well thought through ideas.

If you have a planet or a point such as Ascendent, Descended, Nadir, or MC between 18 and 26 degrees of Libra the aspects defining this New Moon are particularly powerful as they create a kite configuration in your chart. The Kite is essentially a Grand Trine with an opposition to one of the trine points. In this case the Libra planet in your personal chart between 18 and 26 degrees opposes the New Moon. The opposition provides stress that breaks up and balances the trines, keeping them from becoming too arrogant or self-absorbed. The grand trine can be overpowering for the one little opposition that’s there to question it, so it’s important to work the opposition to keep the trine from going overboard. For example my Ascendent at 24 degrees of Libra opposes the New Moon, but creates a Grand Trine to the air planets: Jupiter at 25° of Aquarius and Mars at 23° of Gemini. With the Aries New Moon I am called to acknowledge other people’s needs and to create balanced partnerships in the spirit of mutual growth. Since the Gemini Mars is located in the 8th house, I felt strongly compelled to harness the energies of the Cosmos and begin CREATRIX Magazine online astrology course: CREATRIX CODEX. Therefore expressing the planetary energies and the need to share (Libra) the astro-gnosis (Jupiter & Gemini Mars) of the occult (the 8th house, also Jupiter in Aquarius indicates astrology).
