December 21st, 4:49 pm EST, 9:49 pm GMT

Winter Solstice is here!  December 21st is marked by a potent cosmic opening. The Sun ingresses into the cardinal sign of Capricorn at 4:49 pm EST / 9:49 pm GMT on December 21st and remains on the first degree of Capricorn until December 22nd.

As this crossing signifies the beginning of the winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the chart of the Winter Solstice defines the major energetic waves in the next 3 months.

This is the time we experience the feeling of hopefulness and confidence, with the Sun at 0° Capricorn squaring Jupiter at 0° Aries. Since Jupiter, the planet of expansion is forming a hard aspect, it’s a good idea to keep things in moderation, do not overspent, or take upon too many projects. On the other hand it can be lucky and optimistic period, especially if you can focus on one project rather than an array of exciting opportunities. The same advice goes with the Mars Retrograde in Tropical Gemini opposing Moon in Sagittarius. Best not to scatter your energies, and consciously dedicate yourself to one, maximum two things so you are not overextending yourself as that would bring emotional exhaustion, resulting in anxiety.

Venus at 14° Capricorn, in a wider conjunction with Mercury at 20°, and in trine to the North Node in Taurus at 12° and Uranus at 15°, brings forward the importance of social connections and promises the atmosphere of enjoyment, and excitement. With the North Node aspected by Venus and Uranus, you can experience valuable insights concerning your relationships. In general, this seems like a pleasant, playful time, just don’t chase after too many shiny things! Focus, focus, focus – your existential mantra from Mars Rx, and Jupiter square.

With cosmic blessings,
