We need justice, we cannot continue to accept institutional police brutality and the inhumane treatment against black people, people of colour, immigrants, minorities, those economically disadvantaged and without the agency. We must act. Silence is violence, so speak up and do your part, however big or small it is.

Partial Lunar Eclipse June 5th 2020
Full Moon in Sagittarius
3:13 pm EST

The eclipse season is a powerful vortex of energy that heralds changes and opens new possibilities. Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, the energies are present and the gravitational field of our Solar System suspended within the Milky Way galaxy affects us on both an individual and collective level.

Partial Lunar Eclipse, June 5th 2020 & Full Moon in Sagittarius at 3:13 pm EST.

What is a Lunar and Solar Eclipse?

An eclipse is formed when the Sun or Moon is obstructed from view by a certain set of circumstances involving the Earth, Sun, and Moon. A lunar eclipse can only occur at Full Moon (Sun opposite Moon), when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon blocking the Sun’s rays from reaching all or part of the Moon. A Solar Eclipse can only occur on the New Moon (Sun Moon conjunction) when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth.

Eclipse Symbolism

The symbolism of an eclipse, like anything else in observational astrology,  is that the physical reflects the symbolic. The sky goes dark and the moon is blocked which is the only light. When you have an eclipse something is blocked from view that you are used to seeing. In the ancient text, eclipses were perceived as an omen of a major event, heralding the births and deaths of rulers, wars, or any period of intensity or physical phenomenon like earthquakes or floods.

On a global scale 2020 has been a catastrophic year so far, and judging by the planetary alignments it won’t get any easier.  The year is packed with intensity, as there are 6 eclipses (as opposed to an average of 4), Pluto / Saturn conjunction, Pluto / Jupiter conjunction, Venus, and Mars retrogrades aside from the usual retrogrades of Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune or Pluto, and the Saturn / Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius in December. Nodes changed their signs too, with Gemini /Sagittarius polarity we seek freedom and truth, so this is the time to revise the ideological basis of our belief systems, individual and collective. This makes it an opportune time to support each other on the quest for meaning, freedom, and truth.

We need justice, we cannot continue to accept institutional police brutality and the inhumane treatment against black people, people of colour, immigrants, minorities, those economically disadvantaged and without agency. We must act. Silence is violence, so speak up and do your part, however big or small it is. We have been through difficult, dark times with the COVID19 lockdown, but the collapse of the economy, while affecting us all, has disproportionately adversely impacted minorities. Now we cannot allow the authorities (which we doubt have been elected democratically – hacking, foreign powers involvement, social media manipulation) to police us with their 8pm curfews, to tell us to go home and Netflix out. Our streets are burning because the need for change has been so great for so long.

Sagittarius Full Moon and the Lunar eclipse

Within the next month we are to experience 3 powerful eclipses, the first eclipse of June on June 5th, activates The Great Attractor, which is a cosmic portal opening up the gates to the Fifth Dimension and pouring the light into our collective consciousness in the spirit of bringing humanity to its higher expression.

The Sagittarius Full Moon and the Lunar eclipse takes place on June 5th 2020, at 3:13 pm, EST. It represents a big energetic wave pulling us into, the Sun at 15 degrees and 33 minutes of Gemini opposes the Moon at 15 degrees and 33 minutes of Sagittarius conjunct with the Great Attractor located at 14 degrees and 2 minutes of Sagittarius.

Friday, June 5: Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius

Astronomically, the Great Attractor is a gravitational anomaly – a vortex of magnetism and gravity between superclusters – that in more simple terms is a vortex of power.   Its immense and intense energy pulls our galaxy at an astronomical scale: a speed of 600 km/s!

Because it is happening in Sagittarius, Jupiter, the ruler of this eclipse, right now is conjunct with Pluto, the God of Transformation and Rebirth. Jupiter represents our belief system, religion, ideology, search for truth, and freedom.  Conjunct with Pluto it brings opportunity to align with the highest calling, attuned to the idealistic, selfless expressions of Plutonian energies. Pluto’s immense powers are best expressed as used for the greater good, and not egotistical self-serving results. Keep that in mind, and let the principle of the common good guide your actions. This is an auspicious year and Pluto and Jupiter meet three times in exact conjunction on April 4th, June 30th, and November 12th.

Pluto reveals where we most covertly resist change, and therefore also shows us where we have the opportunity to rise above personal fears. Residing in the sign of Capricorn, Pluto tests the structures of our political and economic systems, based on a sense of moral and ethical integrity. We all become codependents of a system that is not functioning, that is, taking more than it can give. This imbalance creates a distorted sense of responsibility within us all, for the system is failing us and we need to transform it, and assume greater personal accountability for the impact we have on the world we inhabit. Pluto in Capricorn also signifies the resistance of the authorities and the use of military forces against the people, represented by the Moon in Sagittarius.

The major aspect of this eclipse is a t-square, involving the Sun in Gemini, Moon in Sagittarius and Mars conjunct Neptune as an apex. This can make us angry, and irritable, but also assertive and ready to fight for what we believe in. Mars conjuncts Neptune through the first 3 weeks of June, and is exact on June 12-13th. This is the time to use the warrior energy (Mars) in the area of spiritual beliefs and practice (Neptune). Mars will activate our need to help those in need bestowing upon us greater compassion (Pisces).

Another powerful aspect of this Lunar Eclipse is Mercury at 9 degrees of Cancer in sextile to Uranus at 8 degrees of Taurus which promises the downpour of brilliant, out of the box ideas that could help to resolve current difficulties. Transiting Mercury conjuncts the points in the US chart: the Sun and Jupiter which activate and augment the need to come to peaceful resolutions in the spirit of respect for human rights. The US chart has Mercury in Cancer at 24 degrees which is now opposed by Pluto, and that also attunes to the Lunar eclipse revelation of secrets and lies…

USA chart, July 4 1776, Philadelphia.

Since this is the beginning of the eclipse season, we are to expect an eventful and intense weeks to come. It is important to consciously develop spiritual practice to protect one’s energy and sanity. Do some type of soothing ritual during an eclipse, especially if it affects a planet or point in your chart. Take time for prayer, meditation, and just centering and being silent. The intensity will be great.

Eclipses create energy and intensity and when eclipses occur within a week or two of planetary stations, especially retrogrades, often cataclysmic, momentous events (earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, meteorological changes, violence, plane crashes, political comings and goings, terrorist attacks, etc.) occur with the world taking notice.

What does the eclipse bring to our personal lives?

Anything that occurs globally that has great power and influence is certain to affect us. If the degrees of the eclipses concur with a point or planet in our charts, then it will cause occurrences as if we were experiencing an outer planet transit. But even if we do not have anything on personal points or planets, the eclipses will always fall in a house in our chart. It is important to see the area of your chart where the nodes and eclipses fall and if they hit a planet or personal point in your chart (especially when it is combined with a retrograde) it will activate that point, bringing things to light that the planet or point represents, sometimes positively and sometimes negatively, but be prepared for something to be activated. Remember, the ancient scriptures advise to stay focused, meditate, and reflect so that you will have strength to live through whatever the eclipses bring.

What causes the Eclipses?

The Nodes are the ones responsible for the eclipse. Rather than planets with shape or mass, the Nodes are simply the places where the orbit of the Moon intersects with the “orbit” of the Sun. The point formed after the Moon has traveled from South to North is called the Ascending Node, or North Node.

In western astrology, the Nodes are considered to be points of evolution. The South Node is where we are comfortable, or where our past life has been and therefore we stay at that comfort level. The North Node is the place we are compelled to move towards in order to evolve and be the best we can be. Ultimately we must balance the two points, that is, the signs and houses.
