Get Busy: A Playlist For the Full Moon in Capricorn

This Capricorn Sun playlist will take you on a journey. From Francoise Hardy (RIP) and Sade to Slick Rick and Rob Zombie, the one thing that can be said of every Cap Sun musician is that they go very VERY hard. There is hardly a place to rest in this playlist, because even the gentler songs are absolutely devastating.

This year, Cancer Season is flanked on either end by a Full Moon in Capricorn, offering us the opportunity to cut the fat and use our emotions to drive our chariot… but only if we’re capable of steering the Saturnian energy of the Sea Goat amidst Cancer’s emotional tides.

Capricorn thrives on structure, but rather than follow the status quo, Capricorn excellence always emerges from internal guiding principles. Exemplified by iconoclasts like Jean Michele-Basquiat and Louise Bourgeois, Capricorn has the ability to normalize their own logic for the zeitgeist. Capricorn is in it for the long haul, and they will spend a lifetime perfecting their craft and evolving, like iconic Capricorn Dolly Parton.

Capricorn divines simplicity where others overcomplicate things. Take Henri Matisse, who originally painted in a traditional academic style, by the end of his career his works eschewed details to become celebrations of color and form.

There is hardly a place to rest in this playlist, because even the gentler songs are absolutely devastating.

In these songs, I noticed recurring themes of rocks and diamonds, returning to home or making a home somewhere, and of course… putting in work. Also Death.

Of course there’s no rest for Capricorn Sun. This playlist puts us to work with songs like 9 to 5 (Dolly Parton), How am I Going to Make a Living (Sade), Get Busy (Sean Paul), Try Again (Aaliyah), Try Just A Little Bit Harder (Big Brother and the Holding Company), Work it Out (Pitbull and Lil Jon), Under Pressure (David Bowie), and The Fixer (Pearl Jam).

Like the moon pulling back the tide to expose the muddy shoals of Estuaries, this Strawberry Full Moon in Capricorn has brought low tide to our emotional bodies, revealing parts of ourselves that were previously underwater.

This playlist is a tool for confronting and moving through these emotions.
