This is episode 8 of Creatrix Pod and we are thrilled to introduce our guest artist, the innovative and prolific Petra Hudcova, hailing from Prague in the Czech Republic.
In conversation with our resident interviewer, Habib William Kherbek, Petra reflects on the seismic shifts that reshaped her homeland in 1989 and how her experience of these transformations echo through her art. From exploring the evolving landscape of public monuments to unraveling the paradoxes of perception.
Known in particular for her interactive game works, such as Double Bind, Petra captures the dissonance of a society in flux, where contradictory commands mirror the tumultuous journey of self-discovery and finding one’s way amidst rapid change.
Petra’s practice is an exploration of sublime moments that transcend boundaries through video installations alongside works on paper, canvas ceramics, site-specific installations and interactive games. She invites us to reflect upon situations where individual existence intersects with societal structures through the use of metaphors drawn from utopian ideals, architecture, games and ceramics. These diverse heterogeneous approaches coalesce to challenge and deconstruct our perceptions of reality.
